The project conducted a dialogue session with the survivors’ network in Kathmandu district on 25th July 2022. There were twenty-one participants in the program. The primary objective of this particular event was to increase the awareness among survivors of trafficking about ‘Voluntourism’ and the impact it may have in the trafficking of children.

The dialogue session discussed Nepal’s legal provisions on Child Care Homes (CCHs), the minimum standards on the operation and management of CCHs and the deinstitutionalization of CCHs. The participants shared that the concept of Voluntourism, and more importantly, the negative effects of it and increased risk of trafficking, was a newer concept for them, and shared that they would be more vigilant and raise awareness about it in their circles.
